SHAH ALAM, February 4 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) revealed that a popular theme park had received nine notices before a visitor was struck by a falling inflatable tube on Jan 29. Among them were four warning notices, including one issued on Jan 19 ordering the immediate halt of the glass water slide operation.
However, follow-up inspections found the park continued the activity without approval, leading MBSA to issue a compound notice for non-compliance under the Street, Drainage, and Building Act 1974. MBSA expressed regret over the incident, which went viral on social media, and reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing safety regulations.
The Selangor government, through MBSA, held discussions with the theme park management to ensure compliance and plans to tighten monitoring of all theme parks and entertainment venues. Selangor Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim emphasized that public safety is a priority and pledged stricter enforcement to prevent similar incidents in the future.
