GEORGE TOWN, February 5 — ESCAPE Penang has added two more Guinness World Records to its remarkable collection, bringing the total number of world records at the park to four. The newly recognized records are for the “Longest Tubby Racer” with a length of 453.3 metres, and the “Largest Tipping Bucket,” which holds an astounding 28,757 litres of water.
This achievement solidifies ESCAPE Penang’s position as the only theme park globally to host four Guinness World Records rides and attractions, with its previous world records including the longest tube water slide and zip coaster. The Tubby Racer, a thrilling downhill tube ride through a rainforest setting, was completed in 2019 without initially realizing it had broken a world record.
Guests ride down the track at speeds of over 30km/h, with the ride starting at the top of Gravityplay. Meanwhile, the newly added “Largest Tipping Bucket” holds a significant volume of water, tipping every 10 minutes in a dramatic splash at the Waterplay area. The bucket’s innovative design and fun factor were inspired by a desire to create attractions that maximize fun, not just world records, as stated by ESCAPE’s founder Dato’ Sim Choo Kheng.
ESCAPE Penang’s philosophy focuses on providing “smiles per hour,” creating memorable experiences for visitors of all ages. The park’s commitment to fun is evident in the design of its rides, blending thrilling adventure with eco-conscious play. ESCAPE also pioneered the concept of a Retro Eco Adventure Park, emphasizing self-powered and low-tech fun within a natural environment.
The park’s ongoing success, including its recent recognition as the third-best tourist attraction in Asia by TripAdvisor, showcases Penang’s leadership in innovation and tourism. Penang’s continued recognition as a global tourism leader is due in no small part to ESCAPE Penang’s ability to push boundaries while staying true to its roots.
