DILI, TIMOR-LESTE, February 5 — Weststar-GAP Aviation LDA has signed a significant helicopter transportation services contract with Australian energy giant Santos Ltd, marking a major milestone in offshore aviation services in Timor-Leste. The USD 40 million contract, commencing on February 1, 2025, will provide helicopter transport for Santos’ offshore operations in the Bayu-Undan region, with options for further extensions.

This collaboration reinforces Weststar-GAP’s role as a leader in the sector, with long-term expansion plans that could see its total project pipeline surpass USD 400 million over the next decade. To support the contract, Weststar-GAP will deploy two state-of-the-art Leonardo AW189 helicopters for crew change and Medevac standby services, operating between Dili and Darwin under Malaysian aviation regulations.

The agreement also includes a commitment to developing local aviation talent through training programs for Timorese pilots, engineers, and operational staff. Signed in the presence of key government and industry leaders, including officials from Malaysia and Timor-Leste, the deal strengthens regional partnerships and underscores Weststar-GAP’s dedication to safety, operational excellence, and sustainable growth in the aviation and energy sectors.
