KOTA KINABALU, February 7 — A total of 687,031 Sabah Electricity customers will receive a 2.5 per cent rebate on their electricity deposit, amounting to RM10.2 million, said CEO Mohd Yaakob Jaafar. The rebate will be credited directly into customers’ electricity bill accounts in stages, starting from January 2025.
The rebate is mandated under the Electricity Supply Enactment 2024, ensuring customers receive interest on their deposits annually. Mohd Yaakob explained that deposit amounts are reviewed every six months, with adjustments based on consumption.
