KUALA LUMPUR, February 7 – AI innovations like China’s DeepSeek will drive, not hinder, Malaysia’s data centre growth, said Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz. He noted that while efficient AI models reduce data centre needs, their affordability will accelerate adoption, boosting demand for digital infrastructure.
Malaysia remains a top destination for data centres, attracting investments from Google, Nvidia, and Microsoft. Addressing concerns in the Dewan Rakyat, Tengku Zafrul reassured that foreign interest remains strong despite AI efficiency gains, with Malaysia poised to lead in the region’s digital expansion.
