KUALA LUMPUR, February 11 — Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reaffirmed the coalition’s commitment to unity, stating that the idea of removing the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) has never been discussed. Addressing recent speculation, he dismissed suggestions of expelling MCA as mere “daydreaming” by outsiders, emphasizing that BN remains steadfast in its inclusive approach.
Speaking at a press conference after chairing the Special Homestay Committee Meeting at Parliament, Ahmad Zahid—who is also Umno president and deputy prime minister—stressed that BN has never been influenced by external pressure to alter its composition. His remarks follow media reports quoting MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, who claimed that outsiders had proposed MCA’s removal from BN, which currently comprises Umno, MCA, MIC, and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah.
