SUNGAI BULOH, February 11 — The Junior Scientist Day (JSD) 2025, themed Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), successfully engaged 170 children aged 7 to 12 in an interactive forensic science experience at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology Medicine (IMMB), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sungai Buloh.

Participants solved the fictional case The Mysterious Death of Mukesh James by gathering and analyzing clues at eight investigation stations, covering forensic entomology, fingerprint and DNA analysis, pathology, hematology, cybercrime, and toxicology. The program also featured a fire safety demonstration by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA).

Program Chairperson Dr. Amirah Abdul Rahman highlighted JSD-CSI 2025’s role in fostering STEM interest through hands-on learning, encouraging critical thinking, and analytical skills. The event, supported by UiTM, PDRM, forensic experts, and various institutions, also provided 20 orphans with a unique educational opportunity.

The success of JSD-CSI 2025 underscores the importance of experiential learning in shaping future scientists and problem solvers.
