KUALA LUMPUR, February 11 — Malaysia must take bold leadership in its role as ASEAN chair, guiding its Southeast Asian neighbors towards peace and justice, said His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia. In a royal address at the opening of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament, Sultan Ibrahim emphasized the importance of Malaysia acting decisively to safeguard its sovereignty, even in matters as small as a single coral in the middle of the ocean.

His Majesty urged Malaysia to remain steadfast in promoting peace and opposing violence, highlighting the immediate need for an end to the Gaza war and the upholding of legal justice. He called for strategic diplomatic relations and effective actions through legal, defense, and diplomatic channels to protect Malaysia’s national interests and ensure regional security, reinforcing the nation’s pivotal role in ASEAN’s peace efforts.
