PETALING JAYA, February 17 – Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim faced an unexpected confrontation during a dinner honoring party veteran Lim Kit Siang on Saturday night. A man, reportedly an aide to DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng, heckled Sim with a vulgar insult, calling him a traitor amid growing speculation about his potential candidacy for Penang’s next chief minister.
Eyewitnesses stated that Sim was greeting supporters when the man berated him for nearly 10 seconds, accusing him of attempting to undermine Guan Eng. Despite the public outburst, Sim reportedly responded with a smile, choosing not to engage in the confrontation.
When asked about the incident, Sim dismissed the tension, emphasizing that the dinner was about celebrating Kit Siang’s legacy. “Everything else is unimportant,” he said, maintaining a composed stance amid the ongoing political speculation within Penang DAP.
