KUALA LUMPUR, February 21 – Malaysian ministers embarked on 236 official overseas trips in 2024, with a total expenditure of RM44 million, Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa revealed in Parliament. These visits were primarily for international meetings, diplomatic engagements, and investment promotion missions aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s global presence and economic growth.

The highest number of trips was recorded by Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (39), followed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (19) and Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz (18). Dr Zaliha emphasized that all expenditures adhered to financial procedures with a focus on cost-effectiveness.

Ministers with the fewest official trips abroad included Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, and Dr Zaliha herself, each with only one trip. She assured that every visit was planned strategically to maximize benefits while maintaining fiscal prudence in line with the government’s cost-saving measures.
