KUALA LUMPUR, February 21 – Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz has denied speculation that he will be Malaysia’s next ambassador to the United States. Responding to rumors following Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz’s departure from the post, Zafrul clarified, “The answer is no,” during a press conference at the China Conference Southeast Asia.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously stated that a candidate has been selected for the role, pending the consent of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. Meanwhile, Nazri has expressed his intention to return to Malaysia to support Anwar in the next general election, though he ruled out contesting in GE16.
