KUALA LUMPUR, February 22 – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has achieved Green Building Index (GBI) certification under the Existing Building category, setting a new benchmark for sustainable venue operations.

This recognition underscores the Centre’s commitment to environmental stewardship, with initiatives such as 100% food waste diversion, transitioning to renewable energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 41%, far exceeding its initial target of 25% by 2025.

General Manager John Burke hailed the achievement as a testament to the Centre’s bold environmental transformation, proving that legacy buildings can meet modern sustainability standards. With its Net Zero Carbon Events (NZCE) goals and ongoing sustainability reporting, the venue continues to lead Malaysia’s business events sector toward a greener future.
