GEORGE TOWN, February 23 – In conjunction with Thaipusam celebrations, Hartasuma Sdn Bhd, the developer of the Penang Hill Cable Car, has announced a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to construct a motorised lift or people mover system at the Waterfall Hilltop Temple in Pulau Tikus. This project aims to provide full step-free accessibility to one of Malaysia’s largest Lord Murugan temples, which receives around 1.5 million visitors during Thaipusam.

Penang Chief Minister YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow praised the initiative, highlighting its role in preserving heritageand promoting inclusivity for the elderly and mobility-impaired visitors. Hartasuma’s Executive Director, Tan Sri Ravindran Menon, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure, stating that the project is about enhancing accessibility while preserving Penang’s cultural and religious heritage.

The company, known for its contributions to national transport infrastructure, will conduct a feasibility study before implementing the most suitable solution.
