GEORGE TOWN, February 27 – Citadines, with the support of Ascott International Management Malaysia, spearheaded a large-scale corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in Penang, bringing together representatives from all 22 Ascott properties across Malaysia. The initiative focused on two impactful projects: a river cleanup at Sungai Air Itam and facility repairs at Crystal Family Home, an orphanage and parental care center.
Over 80 volunteers, including Ascott Malaysia’s top management, actively participated in this effort to enhance environmental sustainability and community welfare. The Sungai Air Itam cleanup, conducted in collaboration with YB Joseph Ng Soon Siang, aimed to remove waste and pollutants, improving the local ecosystem.
YB Joseph Ng commended the corporate-wide participation, hoping it would inspire further community involvement. Meanwhile, volunteers at Crystal Family Home worked on repairs and renovations, creating a better living environment for children aged 9 to 18. Pastor David Bernabas expressed gratitude, emphasizing that the initiative not only improved the facility but also provided emotional support to the children.
Ascott Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility through its Ascott Cares initiative, pledging continued efforts to drive positive environmental and community impact. Led by Group General Manager Lee Boon Kae, the event showcased Ascott’s dedication to making meaningful contributions beyond hospitality, fostering a culture of care and sustainability.
