KUALA LUMPUR, February 27 – Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying has called for a detailed study on private hospital treatment charges, particularly the differences between patients using guarantee letters and those making upfront payments before reimbursement claims.

She noted that some cases show higher total treatment costs for guarantee letter users, raising concerns about pricing transparency. The government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and industry stakeholders, is working on long-term solutions to address rising medical costs, including enhancing medication cost transparency and facilitating price comparisons.
