GEORGE TOWN, March 12 — A 59-year-old local fisherman who went missing after falling into the sea near Pulau Tikus was found dead 2.9 nautical miles north of Tanjung Bungah this morning. According to the Northeast District Police, the victim was last seen leaving alone in a sampan at 7:00 AM on March 10, before a friend reported him missing at 10:30 AM.

A Search and Rescue (CARILAMAT) operation was immediately launched, leading to the discovery of his body at 11:15 AM on March 11. The fisherman was found wearing a black and red-striped jacket with black sports pants, and initial examinations revealed no signs of foul play. His family has identified the body, which has been sent to Hospital Pulau Pinang’s Forensic Department for a post-mortem.

The CARILAMAT operation was officially stood down at 12:20 PM.
