GEORGE TOWN, March 12 — A high-speed chase in Machang Bubok ended in a fatal police shootout early this morning, leaving a suspect dead after he opened fire on officers. Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad stated that a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) patrol spotted the suspect behaving suspiciously along Jalan Gajah Mati at 2.20am on March 11, 2025.
When ordered to stop, the motorcyclist fled, leading to a chase. The suspect fired multiple shots at police, prompting officers to return fire, ultimately neutralizing him. Upon inspection, authorities discovered a Glock pistol and suspected heroin in his possession.
Believed to be in his 30s and possibly a foreigner, the unidentified suspect is now the subject of investigations under attempted murder, firearms offenses, and drug trafficking laws.
