SANTA CLARA, March 13 – Malaysian-born technology leader Lip-Bu Tan has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC), effective March 18, 2025. Originally from Muar, Johor, Malaysia, Tan is a renowned semiconductor industry expert with a strong track record in driving innovation and business transformation. He will also rejoin Intel’s board of directors after stepping down in August 2024. Tan succeeds Interim Co-CEOs David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus, who will continue in key leadership roles. 

Frank D. Yeary, Intel’s independent chair, expressed confidence in Tan’s leadership, citing his deep industry experience, strong customer focus, and ability to accelerate Intel’s growth and innovation. Tan, who holds degrees from Nanyang Technological University, MIT, and the University of San Francisco, has over 20 years of experience in semiconductors and technology investments. As the former CEO of Cadence Design Systems (2009–2021), he led a remarkable transformation, doubling revenue and increasing shareholder value by over 3,200%.

He currently chairs Walden International and serves on the boards of Schneider Electric and Credo Technology Group. On his appointment, Tan expressed his pride as a Malaysian leading one of the world’s most influential tech companies, emphasizing his commitment to strengthening Intel’s global position and driving future innovations.
