KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad has announced a moratorium until May 1 for private general practitioners (GPs) to comply with the mandatory medication price display rule in their clinics. While the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM) supports the measure, private GPs have raised concerns, citing overregulation and sustainability issues.

The Federation of Private Medical Practitioners Associations Malaysia (FPMPAM) has expressed deep disappointment over the policy, arguing that applying the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 to healthcare services is inappropriate. Dzulkefly reassured GPs of his commitment to addressing their concerns, particularly the long-overdue revision of consultation fees under Schedule 7 of the Private Healthcare Facilities & Services Act 1998.
