KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 – Vietjet has announced its first-ever air service between Vietnam and New Zealand, connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Auckland with four return flights per week starting in September 2025. This milestone coincides with the elevation of Vietnam-New Zealand relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership ahead of their 50th diplomatic anniversary.
Following the announcement, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited Vietjet Aviation Academy (VJAA) in Ho Chi Minh City, where he met Vietjet’s billionaire founder, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao. Both leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties, trade, and education through expanded air connectivity.
With Vietjet also proposing a new airline hub in New Zealand and signing a pilot training collaboration with the International Aviation Academy of New Zealand (IAANZ).
