GEORGE TOWN, March 21 – The expansion and upgrading of Penang International Airport (PIA) are progressing steadily, with key milestones achieved across multiple work packages. Work Package One (WP1) has reached 31% completion and is set for November 2025 completion, introducing Southeast Asia’s first Remote Digital Virtual Tower (RDVT).
Work Package Two (WP2), focusing on airside infrastructure, begins in April 2025, while Work Package Three (WP3), involving a new terminal construction, will commence soon, with full project completion targeted for 2028. This expansion will strengthen Penang’s position as a regional aviation hub and boost economic growth.
