Sony has introduced OCELLUS (ASR-CT1), its first-ever camera tracking system designed for seamless augmented reality (AR) and virtual production in cinema and broadcast applications. OCELLUS eliminates the need for markers by utilizing multiple sensors and Sony’s Visual SLAM technology, ensuring stable tracking in both indoor and outdoor environments.

The system, compatible with Sony and non-Sony cameras, consists of a sensor unit, processing box, and lens encoders to provide real-time camera position and orientation data for enhanced AR, sports, news, and weather broadcasts. Supporting metadata acquisition for focus, iris, and zoom values via SDI output or lens encoders, OCELLUS enables precise tracking and efficient post-production workflows.

It integrates with Unreal Engine via Ethernet and features Genlock and Timecode inputs for synchronization. Sony will showcase OCELLUS at the NAB Show 2025 in Las Vegas starting April 6, with availability in Malaysia expected in Q4 2025.
