SEBERANG PERAI, March 22 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for mosques to serve as centers of unity and knowledge rather than platforms for spreading hatred and division. Speaking at the officiation of Masjid Jamek Prai, he emphasized the importance of fostering respect between Muslims and non-Muslims, urging communities to resolve differences through dialogue rather than insults.
Anwar also highlighted the role of mosques in empowering society through educational and scholarly activities, stressing that peace and harmony are essential for national development. To support this vision, Anwar announced a RM100,000 contribution towards the mosque, earmarked for a religious activity center benefiting local children.
He encouraged Muslims to enhance mosques as centers of learning, incorporating Quranic studies alongside technical and vocational education (TVET) to prepare future generations for evolving challenges, including advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). “It is good to send your children for tahfiz programs, but after that, let them continue to TVET programs too,” he said, reinforcing the importance of holistic education for national progress.
