KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 – Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has confirmed his candidacy to retain the PKR deputy president post in the upcoming party elections on May 24, citing the need for stability within the Unity Government. Emphasizing that internal conflicts could disrupt governance, Rafizi stated that stepping aside would create unnecessary political turmoil.
He reaffirmed PKR’s commitment to a mature democratic process while urging political leaders to focus on economic progress, including Malaysia’s ambition to achieve high-income nation status by 2028. Rafizi, who has held the position since 2022, previously lost his 2018 bid to Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali before securing victory against Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in the last election.
