KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 – Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has announced a significant investment in fleet renewal with a firm order for 30 Boeing 737 aircraft, comprising 18 Boeing 737-8 and 12 Boeing 737-10 models, with options for an additional 30 aircraft. The announcement, made by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Le Meridien Putrajaya, underscores MAG’s commitment to modernizing its fleet, enhancing Malaysia’s global connectivity, and driving economic growth.
This investment aligns with the nation’s ambition to position Malaysia as a key aviation hub, supporting trade, tourism, and job creation while reinforcing Malaysia Airlines’ legacy as a national icon. The aircraft, powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines, will be delivered by 2030, bringing greater efficiency, sustainability, and technological advancements to MAG’s operations. The Prime Minister emphasized that this milestone goes beyond fleet expansion, representing resilience in Malaysia’s aviation sector, which has outperformed pre-pandemic levels.
With Malaysia strategically located at the heart of ASEAN, this investment strengthens the country’s role as a gateway to Asia, supporting the goals of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and the Malaysia Madani vision for progress and inclusivity.
