GEORGE TOWN, March 29 – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has officially announced the Aspen-Klippa Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) 2025, scheduled for 14 December 2025 at Aspen Vision City, Batu Kawan. This marks the second consecutive year the event will be hosted at this fast-growing economic hub, reinforcing Penang’s position as a premier sports tourism destination.
With over 23,000 runners last year, PBIM 2025 aims to surpass 25,000 participants, showcasing not only the growing passion for endurance sports but also the state’s commitment to sustainable economic growth through international sporting events. Beyond a race, PBIM serves as a platform to promote inclusivity and accessibility in sports.
The marathon will continue its special category for visually impaired runners (VIPs), introduced last year in collaboration with St. Nicholas’ Home and Aspen Group, while expanding initiatives for disability-friendly participation. Additionally, as part of International Women’s Month celebrations, the event highlights the increasing role of female athletes, who now represent one-third of the participants.
With strong public-private partnerships, improved infrastructure, and expanded outreach, PBIM 2025 aims to further enhance Penang’s global standing in sports tourism, fostering unity, determination, and excellence.
