KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 – Sony Electronics has announced the VENICE Extension System Mini (CBK-3621XS), an ultra-compact accessory for the VENICE 2 digital cinema camera, designed to enhance creative freedom for filmmakers. Roughly the size of an average smartphone and 70% smaller than its predecessor, the new system maintains the full 8K resolution of the VENICE 2 sensor while allowing for extreme action shots and innovative rigging options.
Director of Photography Claudio Miranda ASC praised its versatility, noting its ability to be mounted in tight spaces such as Formula One race cars without compromising image quality. The VENICE Extension System Mini also introduces a custom drop-in ND cartridge system with nine filters and a detachable, flexible cable for easy mounting. Its stereoscopic imaging capability, replicating human vision with a 64mm inter-axial distance, enables high-quality VR and VFX applications.
Having been used in major films like Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: The Way of Water, the VENICE camera system continues to push cinematic boundaries. The VENICE Extension System Mini will be showcased at NAB Show 2025 in Las Vegas on April 6 and will be available in Malaysia from Q3 2025.
