KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 – The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (Miti) is actively engaging with US authorities following the 10 percent tariff hikes and reciprocal tariffs imposed on Malaysian exports. In a statement, Miti emphasized its commitment to seeking solutions that uphold the principles of free and fair trade, while acknowledging the potential economic impact on Malaysia and global markets.

To address these challenges, the National Geoeconomic Command Centre (NGCC), recently approved by the Cabinet, will assess the economic impact and develop a comprehensive response strategy. Chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with Miti serving as the Secretariat, the NGCC will coordinate efforts across key ministries and agencies to safeguard Malaysia’s economic competitiveness amidst ongoing global trade uncertainties.
