KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 — Palo Alto Networks has released its 2025 Unit 42 Global Incident Response Report, revealing that nearly 44% of global security incidents involved web browsers as entry points for cyberattacks. The report highlights a significant shift in threat actor behavior, with attackers moving from data theft toward full-scale operational disruption, including AI-driven and insider threats.
In Malaysia, cyberattacks targeting government, finance, and critical infrastructure have surged, with 6,209 cases reported in 2024 — a 5% year-on-year increase. To combat the growing threat, the Malaysian government has allocated RM30 million in Budget 2025 to strengthen cyber resilience, including expanding the National Scam Response Centre and NACSA.
Palo Alto Networks stresses the importance of adopting AI-driven security solutions and aligning with national initiatives, as traditional cybersecurity methods are no longer sufficient.
