GEORGE TOWN, April 13 – Motorists are advised of a temporary traffic diversion at the Gurney Drive roundabout from 14 to 23 April 2025, as relocation works for the iconic “Wave of Prosperity” sculpture get underway. The initiative is part of efforts to move the public artwork to its new location at The Light.
To minimise inconvenience to road users, the works will be conducted during off-peak hours, specifically from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. The diversion is essential to ensure the safety of both workers and the public as contractors carry out the delicate removal and transportation process.
Authorities urge road users to follow the on-site signage and make necessary travel adjustments throughout the period. The public’s patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as Penang continues to enhance its urban landscape and cultural offerings.
