GEORGE TOWN, April 23 – Penang water consumers are strongly advised to store enough water to last between 24 to 60 hours during a scheduled statewide water supply interruption (SWSI) beginning at 10.00pm on Friday, 25 April 2025. The planned interruption will affect 341,708 users across Penang due to urgent upgrade works at the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and 22 other sites.

PBAPP CEO Dato’ Ir. Pathmanathan K. emphasized that this exercise is crucial for enhancing water supply reliability and pressure, particularly in high-ground and end-of-line (EoL) areas. The SWSI is necessary to facilitate major infrastructure improvements, including the repair of pipelines, valve replacements, and pump house upgrades. Water supply recovery will follow the completion of all projects, with upstream areas receiving water earlier than downstream consumers.

As part of its Water Relief Plan, PBAPP will deploy 80 tankers to service 182 strategically located tanks across the state. For full details and affected areas, the public is encouraged to visit www.pba.com.my.
