GEORGE TOWN, April 24 — In a bid to accelerate digital adoption among local enterprises, the Penang State Government, through Digital Penang, today hosted a workshop titled “Empowering Penang SMEs Through Apple’s Creative and Communication Tools”. Officiated by YB Zairil Khir Johari, Penang’s EXCO for Infrastructure, Transport and Digital, the event spotlighted the critical role of digital tools in transforming business operations and enhancing productivity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

In his keynote speech, Zairil praised Apple Malaysia and Switch for their proactive collaboration in strengthening the state’s digital economy. “Public-private partnerships like this are key to building a resilient, future-ready economy,” he said. Citing examples such as the iPad-powered Eats365 POS system and creative apps like Keynote, he highlighted how accessible technologies can empower SMEs to innovate, streamline operations, and compete globally.

Digital Penang, the state’s lead digital agency, has already supported over 2,000 SMEs with training in areas like branding, e-invoicing, and website development. As Penang pursues its Penang2030 Vision of becoming a smart, green, and inclusive state, initiatives like today’s workshop mark a meaningful step toward equipping businesses with the digital confidence needed to thrive in a fast-evolving landscape.
