KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 — Proton e.MAS 7 users can look forward to exciting new features in an upcoming over-the-air (OTA) update scheduled for July 2025, as revealed by Pro-Net during a recent Hari Raya open house. Among the highlights are the long-awaited Wireless Apple CarPlay, updates to Android Auto support, and a user-requested option to customise the car’s Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), commonly known as the “Ice Cream Truck” sound, which plays at low speeds.
According to Pro-Net product expert David Tiah, Wireless Apple CarPlay will arrive in the Q2 Update this July, followed by Wired Apple CarPlay in Q3 (October 2025), and both Wired and Wireless Android Auto in Q4 (December 2025). The April OTA update has already enhanced user experience by adding a Start/Stop charging button, optimising braking response, and allowing location tracking even when the EV is asleep.
Additionally, users will soon be able to store speed warning sound preferences, with this feature set for release in the October update. In tandem with these in-car upgrades, the Proton e.MAS app continues to expand its charging network accessibility. Pro-Net Deputy Head of Charging Ahmad Munif Halim announced that Shell Recharge chargers will soon be integrated into the app, building on recent additions such as Charge+ and RExcharge.
The integration gives users access to nearly 90 per cent of public EV chargers nationwide, eliminating the need for multiple third-party apps.
