PUTRAJAYA, April 25 — The Ministry of Health (MoH) has received approval to increase the On-Call Duty Allowance (Etap) for medical personnel, with a formal announcement to be made soon, according to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He emphasised that improving the welfare of healthcare workers remains a top priority under his leadership, noting that the allowance compensates staff for duties performed outside regular hours.

Speaking at the launch of the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2024, Dzulkefly also addressed criticisms over the ministry’s recent Hari Raya celebration, clarifying that renowned artists like Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Datuk Jamal Abdillah participated without official payment, with the event primarily aimed at honouring retired MoH staff.

He further confirmed that the government has approved adjustments to the private healthcare fee schedule.
