GEORGE TOWN, April 25 — In celebration of International Dance Day, Penang Art District (PAD) and Penang Performing Arts Link (PEARL) proudly present Penang Dance Day 2025 under the theme “Penang Dances with the World.” Taking place this Sunday, April 27, at Gurney Plaza and Metaverse Universal College, the event invites the public to explore dance as a powerful force for unity, cultural expression, and personal transformation.
The celebration features 20 free workshops ranging from K-pop to traditional and Latin dance, designed for participants of all ages and backgrounds. The day will culminate in a Gala Evening Performance at the Gurney Plaza Main Atrium from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, following a Star Showcase at 6:00 PM.
These performances will spotlight Penang’s most gifted dancers and choreographers, capturing the spirit of diversity and creativity that defines the state’s vibrant performing arts scene. “This year’s theme is more than just a celebration of dance,” said Aida Redza, founder of PEARL. “It is a reminder that dance connects us in peace and love—even in times of hardship.”
With appearances by YB Syerleena Abdul Rashid and other distinguished guests, the event underscores the role of the arts in fostering social cohesion. Supported by a network of local studios, artists, and volunteers, Penang Dance Day 2025 continues to champion inclusivity in the arts and invites the public to join this dynamic celebration of movement, culture, and community.
