Monday, April 28, 2025 – 8.30 PM – Penang has successfully completed the scheduled water supply restoration under the April 2025 SWSI, with 23 key upgrade projects enhancing the pumping and distribution capacity from the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced that full restoration was achieved at 6.45pm today, including the final 400 accounts in Gertak Sanggul, after resolving trapped air issues.
The upgrades bring five key benefits: increased treated water output, better pressure during peak demand, greater stability for highland and end-of-line areas, quicker recovery from future disruptions, and reduced non-revenue water losses. Chow thanked Penang residents for their patience and acknowledged the teamwork of PBAPP staff, state leaders, and agencies.
Monday, April 28, 2025 – 8.00 PM – Penang has successfully completed the April 2025 Scheduled Water Supply Interruption (SWSI) recovery, fully restoring water supply to all 341,708 affected consumers by 6.30pm today. PBAPP CEO Dato’ Ir. Pathmanathan K. announced that with the completion of 23 key projects.
Penang will boost treated water output by 50 million litres per day from the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant starting May 2025, benefiting 465,000 users with better pressure and fewer disruptions. He thanked the PBAPP team, contractors, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, the state government, and all consumers for their support and patience.
Monday, April 28, 2025 – 10.00 AM – As of 10.00am on 28 April 2025, Phase 3 of the April 2025 SWSI recovery has reached 99%, with water supply restored to about 337,000 of the 341,708 affected consumers. PBAPP is working to fully restore supply to a few remaining end-of-line neighbourhoods in DBD on Penang Island. Consumers in SPU, SPT, SPS, and DTL still facing issues are advised to contact the PBAPP 24-Hour Call Centre at 04-255 8255 or 04-509 6509.
Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 10.00 PM – As of 10.00PM on 27 April 2025, the April 2025 SWSI Phase 2 water supply recovery has reached 88%, with water supply restored for the majority of consumers in SPS and DBD, benefiting 163,502 consumers. Water tankers are still being deployed to refill tanks in end-of-line and high-ground neighbourhoods in these areas. The number of remaining affected consumers stands at 41,523.
Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 4.00 PM – As of 4.00pm on 27 April 2025, PBAPP has achieved 70% water supply recovery for about 228,915 consumers across all five districts in Penang. Despite delays in completing the Sungai Perai River-Crossing Pipeline (SP-RCP), PBAPP, under the directive of Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow, is working towards 88% recovery by 10.00pm today and full recovery by 10.00am tomorrow. Upgraded pumping infrastructure at Sungai Dua WTP is being maximised to speed up the recovery.
Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 2.30 PM – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced that all 23 planned water supply infrastructure upgrade projects under the SWSI scheduled disruption plan were fully completed at 1:48 PM today, and PBAPP teams are now conducting tests and releasing trapped air from the pipelines to ensure smooth water flow to consumers.

Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 1.30 PM – Water supply has resumed in Island Glades (except Delima Palace), Island Park (except Menara Greenview), Greenlane Heights (except Kingfisher), Jalan Tengku Kudin, Lebuh Tengku Kudin, IPG Kampus Pulau Pinang, Jalan Akuarium, parts of Sungai Gelugor, and The Light Collection within 24 hours. Part of Relau has already received water, ahead of schedule.
Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 1.00 PM – YB Dato’ Azrul Mahathir Bin Aziz shared that water supply has started reaching the low-lying areas of Lilitan Sungai Ara, Taman Sungai Ara, Jalan Dato’ Ismail Hashim, Pekan Bayan Lepas, and Jalan Permatang Damar Laut, including Kg Seronok and Binjai, which are part of the 48-hour recovery zone.

Progress is limited as works on the Sungai Perai pipeline (SP-RCP) are still incomplete. PBAPP has deployed more welders to speed up the final works.
Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 10.00 AM – SPAN is closely monitoring PBAPP’s ongoing water supply recovery across Seberang Perai and Penang districts. Maintenance works at 23 locations began on 25 April 2025, with water supply being restored in stages and full recovery expected by 28 April 2025 before noon. A total of 92 water tankers and 182 static tanks have been deployed, with assistance continuing until supply is fully restored.
Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 08.00 AM – YB Connie Tan, ADUN for Seri Delima, has shared that areas around Delima are still facing water supply issues due to high tides and technical difficulties. To assist, PBA has activated the Bukit Dumbar outlet to supply water to the area, though it may take 1–2 hours for pressure to stabilise. Meanwhile, three water trucks have been deployed for house-to-house distribution along Lorong Delima, Jalan Delima, and Jalan Tembaga, residents are encouraged to place pails outside for easier collection.
Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 12.30 AM – Phase 1 of the April 2025 SWSI water supply recovery has reached 44%, with about 151,000 consumers receiving water in SPU (100%), SPT (87%), DTL (82%), SPS (38%), and DBD (5%). Due to delays at the Sungai Perai site, PBAPP will not be able to achieve full recovery in SPT and DTL until between 4.00am and 5.00am on 27 April 2025. However, PBAPP has successfully restored water supply to some areas in SPS and DBD earlier than expected. PBAPP apologises for any inconvenience caused and assures that work will continue overnight to restore supply to as many consumers as possible.
Sunday, April 27, 2025 – 12.00 AM – Most areas in Sungai Pinang have had their water supply restored, with only a few locations such as Jalan Thomas and Taman Bukit Dumbar still awaiting full recovery. YB Lim Siew Khim, ADUN Sungai Pinang, expressed gratitude to the Volunteer Fire Brigade for assisting residents with water refills and thanked all residents for their patience and cooperation. Efforts to monitor the situation will continue until full restoration is achieved.
Saturday, April 26, 2025 – 11.30 PM – YB Connie Tan, ADUN for Seri Delima, has informed that due to some delays from PBA, water supply has not yet resumed in certain areas of Seri Delima. To assist affected residents, three water trucks have been arranged to make rounds at Island Glades, Sungai Gelugor, and other affected areas. The trucks are expected to arrive around 12am.
Saturday, April 26, 2025 – 11.00 PM – Residents in Minden Heights, Gelugor, Lorong Delima, Lintang Delima, Taman Tun Sardon, and Island Park are still experiencing a lack of water supply. Meanwhile, residents in areas like Pantai Jerjak, Sungai Nibong, and Bayan Baru have reported a gradual increase in water pressure.

Saturday, April 26, 2025 – 10.00 PM – YB Connie Tan, ADUN Seri Delima has been informed that several areas, including Jalan Delima, parts of Lorong Delima, Changkat Delima, Sungai Gelugor, Lintang Delima 11, and Solok Tembaga 3, are still without water. The matter has been reported to PBA and we are awaiting an update. Unofficially, delays may be due to high tide at the Sungai Perai site.

Despite minor delays due to flooding at the Sungai Perai site, recovery efforts remain on schedule, with 40% of affected consumers in Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah, and the North-East District expected to get water supply back by 10PM tonight. Phase 2 aims for 88% recovery by tomorrow night, with full restoration to all 341,708 affected consumers by 10AM Monday, April 28. PBAPP is committed to ensuring a smooth and timely recovery.
Saturday, April 26, 2025 – 3.00 PM – Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today visited several locations in the Bayan Lepas and Pulau Betong constituencies to inspect the progress of recently completed water infrastructure upgrading projects under the Scheduled Water Supply Interruption (SWSI) plan. His visits included Blok 7, Taman Perda in Teluk Kumbar and Masjid Sungai Batu in the Bayan Lepas constituency, as well as Taman Desa Genting (Flat Hijau) and Flat Rimbun Kampung Terang in Pulau Betong.
