KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 – Egg prices across Malaysia have remained stable despite a reduction in government subsidies from 10 sen to 5 sen per egg, as traders report steady supply and consumers are urged to avoid panic buying.
Markets in Kuala Lumpur, Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, and Sabah showed no significant price hikes on the first day of the revised subsidy, with Grade A eggs still priced at RM12.30 per tray and Grade C as low as RM6 in government-supported sales.
Traders remain cautious but optimistic, while authorities vow to increase monitoring to prevent profiteering and ensure price stability ahead of the full subsidy removal in August.
