BAYAN LEPAS, May 2 – Penang International Airport marked a new milestone today with the inaugural arrival of Sichuan Airlines’ direct flight from Chengdu, China, reinforcing air connectivity and paving the way for increased tourism, trade, and cultural exchange. Flight 3U3911 was greeted with a ceremonial water salute and a warm reception by Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airports officials.
Operating five times weekly with an Airbus A320, the new route is set to strengthen ties between Malaysia and China, support Penang’s positioning as a global travel hub, and contribute to the momentum of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 efforts, amid surging Chinese tourist arrivals and a visa-free policy extension.
