KUALA LANGAT, May 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has downplayed concerns over Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli’s month-long leave, asserting that taking time off is normal, even amid the country’s economic and political developments.
Speaking to reporters at Bandar Saujana Mosque, Anwar brushed off criticism from opposition figures questioning Rafizi’s absence during global trade tensions, suggesting he himself may take leave following the upcoming ASEAN Summit.
Opposition leaders have argued that Rafizi’s absence comes at a critical time, citing the US government’s imposition of trade tariffs on Malaysian imports and ongoing internal issues within PKR, where party polls have triggered controversy.
Amid surprise defeats and calls of rigging during internal elections, Rafizi’s silence has drawn speculation but Anwar appeared unfazed, urging critics to not overreact to a minister taking scheduled leave.
