Electrifying Penang: Tesla Unveils Gurney Plaza Experience Center, Celebrates 600+ Home Chargers Installed

GEORGE TOWN, May 9 –  Tesla has officially launched its Gurney Plaza Experience Center in Penang, marking a major milestone in the company’s mission to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption across Malaysia. Located at the Kelawai entrance of Gurney Plaza, one of Penang’s most iconic lifestyle destinations, the new center offers an immersive experience featuring Tesla’s cutting-edge technology, including the latest Model 3 and newly launched Model Y.

To commemorate the launch, Tesla is showcasing the Model Y—currently the world’s best-selling vehicle with top safety ratings across four continents—and offering priority test drives to the public. In conjunction with the opening, customers can enjoy exclusive incentives including complimentary home charging support and low-interest financing, amounting to a total value of up to RM28,000.

These initiatives are part of Tesla’s newly introduced Green Mobility Incentives Program, aimed at encouraging organizations and individuals to make the switch to sustainable transportation. The Penang launch also comes with the announcement that Tesla has surpassed 600 home charger installations across the state, reflecting strong local adoption and increasing demand for reliable EV infrastructure.

Tesla’s Supercharging network continues to grow nationwide, with 14 Supercharging stations housing 64 Superchargers and 15 Destination Charging locations equipped with 70 Wall Connectors. Another six Supercharging stations are set to open soon across Malaysia. Beyond just vehicle sales, the Gurney Plaza Experience Center acts as a knowledge hub for customers to explore Tesla’s energy ecosystem, including self-driving technology and smart charging solutions.

Visitors are invited to discover the seamless ‘Plug and Charge’ experience while learning about the long-term value of EV ownership from Tesla’s dedicated product specialists. This new Experience Center reinforces Tesla’s strategic presence in northern Malaysia and complements its other key locations, including Experience Centers in Cyberjaya and Pavilion Damansara Heights, and Service Centers in Penang, Johor, and Cyberjaya.
