JOHOR BARU, May 10 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced that Russian e-hailing platforms InDrive and Maxim must cease operations in Malaysia by July 24 following findings of multiple regulatory violations. The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has issued official notices to both companies for operating without valid permits and failing to ensure their drivers met key legal requirements, including possessing Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licences and e-hailing insurance.
The Malaysian P-Hailing Riders Association had earlier raised concerns, alleging the platforms were offering services in breach of the Land Public Transport Act 2010. APAD confirmed that the companies did not comply with licensing conditions, particularly the mandatory E-Hailing Vehicle Permit (EVP). While the companies may appeal, Loke emphasized that the final decision on the matter rests with him.
