KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) will lead a special study tour in Kuala Lumpur this Tuesday, inviting all members of parliament to witness firsthand the condition of deteriorating low-cost flats and the success of completed urban renewal projects. Minister Nga Kor Ming said the initiative is part of efforts to demonstrate the urgency and transformative potential of the long-awaited Urban Renewal Bill.

Nga emphasised that invitations were extended to both government and opposition MPs, with transportation arranged from Parliament. The visit aims to raise awareness about the need to revitalise unsafe urban housing and improve residents’ quality of life. He added that the bill, expected to be tabled in June, would help streamline redevelopment processes by lowering the threshold of resident consent required for renewal projects.
