SHAH ALAM, May 13 — Following a successful pilot project that served 73,389 users across eight zones, Selangor is intensifying efforts to expand its demand-responsive transit (DRT) services, with a new tender process currently underway.

State investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the initiative aims to improve first- and last-mile connectivity, and that proposals from potential DRT providers are now being evaluated, with hopes of relaunching services within three months.

Ng highlighted that the Keramat Zone, including areas like Kampung Melayu Ampang and SMK Dato’ Ahmad Razali, showed continued demand for DRT services, particularly because the vans can navigate narrower routes.

He also announced the completion of new covered walkways and bus stops to enhance student safety, while separately reporting that the Smart Selangor bus service, which now operates 59 routes, has recorded over 76 million riders since its 2015 launch.
