SHAH ALAM, May 16 – PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar has declined deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli’s public debate proposal, stating her priority is on engaging party delegates and grassroots members rather than fueling internal politicking.
Speaking after a “Temu Rapat Akar Umbi” session, Nurul Izzah said her focus remains on ongoing initiatives like her ‘Wanita Mendunia’ and youth outreach programmes, and that party unity should be built through dialogue, not debates.
Rafizi, who proposed the debate during his campaign stop in Temerloh, had suggested it could ease growing tensions among grassroots supporters and promote transparency ahead of PKR’s leadership elections.
However, Nurul Izzah dismissed the need for such a forum, highlighting that effective engagement comes from direct involvement with party divisions and not through public spectacles.
