The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) today launched its “Building the Capacity of Imams and Preachers” program in Malé, Maldives, in collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Centre. The initiative, held under IMCTC’s “Wasata” strategy, aims to strengthen the ideological resilience of religious leaders through workshops and lectures on countering extremist narratives, enhancing communication skills, and promoting moderation in Islamic teachings.
The launch ceremony was attended by senior Maldivian officials including the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Shaheem Ali Saeed, and IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, who emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and capacity building in confronting terrorism. The five-day program is part of IMCTC’s broader framework to deliver 90 training sessions and 20 awareness initiatives across member states.
