KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 – Over 400 industry leaders convened at MIDA’s Data Centre Nexus 2025, a landmark event aimed at redefining Malaysia’s position in the global digital economy. Officiated by YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, the event spotlighted the nation’s rapidly expanding data centre market—projected to grow from USD4.04 billion in 2024 to USD13.57 billion by 2030.
MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim underscored the agency’s commitment to building a robust local supply chain to power Malaysia’s digital infrastructure in an increasingly AI-driven world. The event featured seven high-impact panels, global tech giants like AWS and Google, and business matching sessions that connected local suppliers with international players.
Emphasis was placed on energy transition, job creation, and a “Build by Malaysia” strategy to scale the domestic ecosystem. With RM184.7 billion in data centre and cloud-related investments already approved, and strong government-industry collaboration, Malaysia is well on track to becoming a regional digital powerhouse.
