JOHOR BARU, May 24 — Nurul Izzah Anwar has been officially elected as the new Deputy President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) after securing a decisive 6,000-vote lead over incumbent Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli.
The 44-year-old garnered 9,803 votes compared to Rafizi’s 3,866 in a closely watched one-on-one contest, with the results announced by PKR election committee chair Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa during the party’s National Congress at Persada International Convention Centre.
Following her win, Nurul Izzah pledged to reunite grassroots members and prepare the party for the upcoming 16th general election. Her victory marks a significant leadership shift in the party, reinforcing the influence of PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political legacy.
Rafizi, who had earlier vowed to resign as Economy Minister if defeated, now faces mounting pressure as Nurul Izzah’s win reshapes the party’s direction for the 2025–2028 term.
