GEORGE TOWN, June 4 – In a significant stride toward enhancing public healthcare services, the Penang State Government, with support from the Federal Government, has announced the ongoing implementation of three major development projects at Hospital Pulau Pinang, totalling RM758 million in approved funding.
These projects include the construction of a Women and Children’s Block (RM307 million), a new Stem Cell Services Centre (RM23 million), and a Specialist Clinic and Ward Block (RM428 million), all set to elevate the quality and capacity of hospital services in line with the Penang2030 vision and Malaysia MADANI aspirations.
Penang State EXCO for Youth, Sports, and Health, YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, highlighted the comprehensive scope and targeted completion dates of each project—January 2026, March 2027, and May 2029, respectively.
The projects, which include the addition of hundreds of new beds, specialised treatment units, and improved facilities such as parking, public amenities, and advanced medical infrastructure, are expected to narrow healthcare access gaps and raise the standard of care for Penangites.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to holistic and equitable public health service delivery for all layers of society.
