Apple has announced visionOS 26, a transformative update for Apple Vision Pro that redefines the spatial computing experience. Unveiled in Cupertino, California, the new operating system introduces spatial widgets that integrate seamlessly into the user’s environment, hyper-realistic Personas with enhanced detail, and cutting-edge APIs designed for developers, enterprises, and content creators.
Widgets in visionOS 26 go beyond simple displays — they now become part of a user’s space, offering live, customizable interfaces for apps like Weather, Clock, Music, and Photos. With a new Widgets app and support for WidgetKit, developers can also create their own interactive experiences tailored to visionOS.
Shared spatial experiences are now more immersive, enabling multiple Vision Pro users to interact in the same room — whether it’s co-watching a 3D movie, playing games, or collaborating in real-time. Enhancements to Personas, Apple’s digital representation feature, bring unprecedented realism using volumetric rendering and machine learning, capturing natural expressions and even hairstyle variations.
visionOS 26 also introduces “Spatial Scenes” — AI-generated photo environments that allow users to view images with realistic depth and perspective. Web browsing gets a spatial upgrade too, supporting embedded 3D models in Safari. Moreover, users can now enjoy native playback of 180-degree and 360-degree videos from cameras like GoPro and Insta360, and play next-gen games using the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller.
For enterprises, Apple offers powerful new APIs and tools, including device-sharing capabilities, secure content protection, and support for the Logitech Muse spatial accessory. With support for more languages, Apple Intelligence features, and innovations like “Look to Scroll” and iPhone call relays, visionOS 26 cements Vision Pro’s role at the forefront of spatial computing.
