SEBERANG PERAI, June 11 — Penang’s State Executive Councillor for Local Government and Town & Country Planning, YB H’ng Mooi Lye, announced that all rezoning applications in Seberang Perai will no longer be accepted or processed after June 30, 2025, until the Draft Seberang Perai Local Plan 2030 (DRTSP 2030) is gazetted.
The draft is currently being finalised for submission to the State Planning Committee and subsequently to the State Authority for gazettement. As of now, 79 rezoning applications have been received by the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP), with 58 approved, 13 rejected, and 8 still under review.
After the June deadline, only rezoning applications within Penang Island—specifically the Northeast and Southwest districts under the Penang Island City Council (MBPP)—will be entertained. The state government remains committed to ensuring development in Seberang Perai is planned, sustainable, and inclusive, aligning with the DRTSP 2030 vision for a competitive and people-centric city.
